How PTEwhat collects, uses, and protects your data.
PTEwhat is operated by The Trustee for The Lorenzon Ferraz Family Trust (ABN: 857 67 198 441), based in Perth, Australia. This policy explains what personal data we collect on ptewhat.com and app.ptewhat.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have over it.
We collect only what we need to run the platform, we never sell your data, and we do not run advertising or third-party tracking on the site.
When you create an account, we ask for your name, a username, your e-mail address, and a WhatsApp number (used for course communication and support). You can also add optional profile details such as a photo, your exam date, and your target score.
When you use the practice platform, we store your study activity: the answers you submit, your scores and progress, and — for speaking exercises — the audio recordings of your responses, which are kept with your practice history so you can review them later.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number never touches our servers; we keep only what is needed to manage your subscription, such as your plan, its status, and your billing history.
Your data is used to provide the service: signing you in, saving your progress, scoring your practice, sending transactional e-mails (such as study reminders and booking confirmations), and supporting you through the channels you gave us.
Our infrastructure runs on trusted hosting providers (such as Supabase and Vercel) that store data on our behalf. We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Written and spoken practice answers are scored automatically. To do this, your essays and voice recordings are processed by enterprise AI services (such as Anthropic and Microsoft Azure) that do not use your content to train their models. Your answers are sent only to generate scores and feedback — never for advertising or profiling.
When you score PTE 33 or above on a question, your answer may be featured as an example for other students, identified by your first name only. This is controlled by the "Contribute to the community" toggle in your account settings: you can turn it off at any time — which immediately removes all of your featured answers — or remove individual answers one by one.
We use only essential cookies: one that keeps you signed in (your session) and one that remembers your language preference. A few interface preferences (like a collapsed sidebar) are kept in your browser's local storage and never leave your device.
We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party tracking pixels of any kind.
We keep your data for as long as your account exists, so your study history stays available to you. Access is restricted: each student can only reach their own records, and access to production data is limited to the PTEwhat team.
You are always in control of your data. At any time you can:
For access, export, or deletion requests — or any privacy question — contact us at [email protected] and we will respond as soon as possible.
If we change how we handle your data — for example, by adding a new feature or service provider that touches personal data — we will update this page and revise the effective date below.
This policy is effective from 11 June 2026 and replaces the version dated 26 December 2022.
